Presumably giving the album away must increase the number of downloads you get and therefore help get you into the charts. Would it help if we all repeatedly downloaded it over and over again, or do the charts take that sort of thing into account?

I think putting the album up for free gives people who aren't quite sure a chance to hear it and then if they like it we get more people at the gigs - and I agree about CDs. I buy stuff I quite like on itunes but anything I like a lot, I get the CD. byeeeeeeee

What the band need are real fans, real fans support the music, they want to hold the CD, get the bonus tracks come to gigs and be a part of the journey. If everyone can download the album then maybe they can create more real fans because the music deserves it (which it does).
Lets be realistic the band needs to sell records to survive but the more people that hear it the more word can spread and the more real fans you can create. So Pancentricism instead of downloading the album several times why not rip it and give it to a friend for a present or send them the link.
You can get everything for free these days if you try hard enough but that doesn't take away the pleasure in owning your own copy and of giving something back to the band (especially if it is signed like mine!
